Ordeal: The woman was tortured and raped
A female police informant was brutally tortured, beaten and raped after being identified as a “grass”, a court heard.
The woman was subjected to a “sustained” campaign of violence at the hands of three defendants, a jury was told.
Claire Dooley, 37, Esther Graham, 28, both of Garston, Liverpool, and Daniel Spencer, 26, of no fixed address, all deny a charge of false imprisonment and unlawful wounding, the Liverpool Echo reported .
Simon Christie, prosecuting, told the jury at Liverpool Crown Court that the reason for the abuse and violence was “a compelling one”.
He said: “She was working covertly for the police, she was informing.
“In short, she was committing what is for many the most cardinal sin - she was being ‘a grass’.”
