Court Remands Man In Prison Custody For Possession Of 69.5kg Of Drugs

A Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday remanded one Aina Olusegun in prison custody for alleged possession of 69.5 kilogrammes of Indian hemp.
The Presiding Judge, Justice D. U. Okorowu ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending further order of the court.
Earlier Mr Charles Ugwuja, the prosecutor for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), told the court that the accused was arrested on Dec. 15, 2015 at Ara-Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 19 and 11(C) of NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
He requested for adjournment to enable him prepare for the case.
However, Olusegun, who was represented by Mr Ayodeji Oguntuase his defence counsel, pleaded not guilty to the two-count-charge.
Justice Okorowu adjourned the case till Feb. 9 for trial. (NAN)
