An investigation has been launched after the death of a man who shot himself in front of police.
Police used a Taser stun gun and fired baton rounds during the incident in Wallington in south London last night, the Independent Police Complaints Commission ( IPCC ) said.
The man died in hospital early today and the IPCC launched an investigation into the actions of the Metropolitan Police officers at the scene.
An IPCC spokesman said: "Armed police attended Melbourne Road in Wallington on Saturday evening following reports that a man was in possession of a firearm.

"Later police encountered the man in Bridge Road. The man discharged a weapon seriously injuring himself. During the incident a police officer deployed a Taser and two other officers fired baton rounds.
"The man was taken by ambulance to hospital where he died later this morning."
The spokesman added that investigators have seen some footage from body cameras worn by officers.
Scotland Yard is currently testing 1,500 cameras, and this year will become the first force in the world to give every officer one of the devices, with 22,000 being rolled out over nine months.
A non police-issue gun was also found at the scene, the IPCC added.
