Relatives of a victim who was raped when she was a just a young girl are hoping the perpetrator's 10 year conviction will encourage other victims of rape to come forward and speak out.
Ross Alan Penny, of Critchill Road, Frome, was found guilty of raping a girl under the age of 13 between April 3, 2008 and July 25, 2008 at Wanstrow.
The 35-year-old was sentenced to an extended sentence of ten years, a sexual harm prevention order was also given and he will be on the sex offender register for life.
The sentence was given on December 2 following a trial at Taunton Crown Court.
