Cem Duzgan, 21, "stood no chance" when a hitman fired 11 bullets in seconds at close range on the evening of October 5 2009 in revenge for a killing three days earlier, jurors were told.
However, he is not thought to have been the intended victim.
Warren Leader, 36, is on trial at the Old Bailey, accused of conspiracy to murder between September 29 and October 6 2009, along with others.
Prosecutor Ed Brown QC said: "This killing was an act of revenge, planned and quickly put into place. The evidence is plain and demonstrates that this act of revenge was nothing less than a killing to order - a hit.
"Most directlyIMPORTANT in respect of this defendant are the days leading up to 5th October and the days afterwards, but it will become clear also that the origins of this dreadful killing lie in a bitter and violent rivalry between two Turkish gangs.
"This murder marked another chapter in the bloody feud between a group known as the Tottenham Turks and another, the Hackney Turks, two criminal gangs whose hatred of each other has led to a series of murders and other shootings in North London over the last few years.
"Both gangs were, after an incident in early 2009, at each other's throats and continued to be so long after the killing that you are directly concerned with."
Three days before the killing, Oktay Erbasli, who was associated with the Tottenham Turks, was shot and killed while driving a car, the court heard.
The Hackney Turks were blamed for his death leading to the retaliatory attack on Mr Duzgan who happened to be in a social club associated with the gang, jurors were told
