Abduction: Kidnappers Of 78-year-old Woman Insist On N50m Ransom

Kidnappers of 78-year-old Mrs. Mabel Dagomie Abiante are insisting on collecting N50 million as ransom before she would regain her freedom from captivity.
This is as the health condition of the septuagenarian, who was kidnapped on November 28, 2015, from her home at Ngo Town, headquarters of Andoni local government area of Rivers State, continues to deteriorate.
A member of the Abiante family who pleaded anonymity said the kidnappers made their first contact with the family exactly one week after her abduction on Friday, December 4, demanding N50 million ransom.
The family member, who stated that the 78-year-old grandmother was yet to recover from a surgical operation when the kidnappers struck, raised the alarm that the kidnappers might have been commissioned to kill their mother.
He wondered why the kidnappers have insisted that unless the amount they demanded is paid in full, they are not ready to set her free, and appealed to the kidnappers to release the family’s matriarch whom he said is too ill to even talk.
The source said, “We are appealing to the kidnappers of Mama to please let her go. We learnt she is too ill in their hands to even talk. When Mama’s abductors gave us the chance to speak with her today, Tuesday, Mama could be hardly heard.
“Mama complained of suffering pains in her heart area. Mama told us that she fell and hit her chest on the boat when the kidnappers were dragging her into their get-away boat on the day she was kidnapped. We are appealing to the kidnappers to release our mother to enable us offer her immediate medical treatment.
“We are also appealing to men of goodwill to join us to save our mother who has contributed immensely to the development of humanity.”
