Manama
: A search is on in Bahrain for a Saudi man, who apparently supplied
terrorist organisations here with weapons and ammunition to be used
against police, it was revealed yesterday.
According to London-based Arabic daily Al Hayat, the
individual is wanted in Saudi Arabia and in Bahrain. He is apparently
accused of selling rifles and pistols for BD300 and BD500 to a
five-membered terrorist cell in Bahrain. The cell was recently busted
and its members are facing trial here.
The information
about the unidentified suspect was unfolded by two brothers, who are
members of the Bahraini terrorist cell, during their trial at a local
court a few days ago.
The report quoted the Saudi
Ambassador in the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Abdulla Al Alshaikh as saying,
“There’s ongoing security cooperation between both Kingdoms to nab the
suspect, who smuggled weapons to the Bahraini terrorist group from Saudi
Arabia.”
“Communication is never-ending between Saudi
and Bahraini security authorities. Some terrorist members have utilised
the geographical proximity and social bonds between both countries to
serve their evil purposes,” the ambassador said, reaffirming that
information provided by Saudi authorities assisted the Bahraini part in
foiling a number of terrorist operations.
