Gunshots have been fired at a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Drumcondra, Dublin, on Friday, killing one man and seriously injuring two others.
The Irish Independent reported on the incident: "Three men burst into the foyer of the hotel at approximately 2.30pm dressed in 'police-style' uniforms and armed with what eye witnesses say looked like AK47s, and fired a number shots, leading to dozens of people fleeing from the hotel."
Boxing promoters MGM had advertised an official weigh-in for the "Clash of the Clans' event at the hotel, scheduled to have taken place at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
The two hurt men are thought to have not sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Irish Independent. The three individuals involved are believed to be in their twenties or thirties.
An investigation has now begun into attaining the facts behind the shootings, as a large police presence secures the Regency Hotel venue.
The headline bout on Saturday's fight card was Jamie Kavanagh against Joao Bento for the vacant WBO European Lightweight Title.
The card at the National Arena in Tallaght was scheduled to be shown live on Box Nation on Saturday night, but the RT Network has said the event is now cancelled
