Chicago police make arrest in shooting death of nine-year-old boy

Chicago police
Chicago police said on Friday a 27-year-old man had been arrested in the fatal shooting this month of a nine-year-old boy on the city’s South Side.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Corey Morgan of Chicago was in custody and that more information would be announced later in the day.
The victim, Tyshawn Lee, was shot dead on 2 November, in what police say was a targeted gang shooting.
Police superintendent Garry McCarthy has said the boy was lured into the alley and killed because of his father’s gang ties.
Chicago has been tense since Tuesday, when police released video of the death of Laquan McDonald, a 17-year-old who was shot 16 times by a police officer.
The graphic dashcam video that shows McDonald being shot repeatedly by officer Jason Van Dyke was released on the same day Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder. He has been ordered held without bond.
Protesters over the death and perceived police brutality planned to disrupt Black Friday shopping events in the city.
