Parents shocked after teacher arrested for sex with student

A married Florida high school teacher has been accused of having sex with her 16-year-old student, and according to a relative's social media post, she is also pregnant.

Virginia Houston Hinckley, 26, turned herself in to police custody last Wednesday and was charged with having unlawful sexual activity with a minor at St Augustine High School.

Hinckley was released from jail hours later after posting a $10,000 bond.

in a recent post that appeared on Facebook, a family member of Hinckley’s shared a photo showing the teacher, a man believed to be her husband and their pet bulldog posing with a sign that read: 'Coming May 2016,' according to reporting by ActionNewsJax.com. 

In a caption accompanying the idyllic family portrait, the relative wrote she can't wait to me Hinckley’s baby.

There is no word at this time on the identity of the baby’s biological father.

The St Johns County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into Hinckley in late October after allegations came to light accusing the English teacher of having sex with 16-year-old boy who was in her class.

According to a news release, detectives interviewed witnesses and obtained search warrants to compile evidence in the investigation.

The case was then turned over to the State Attorney’s Office, which issued a warrant for Hinckley’s arrest on November 25.

According to the St. Augustine High School website, Hinckley is a ninth-grade English teacher and a ninth- and 10th-grade intensive reading instructor.

A graduate of University of North Florida, the 26-year-old was hired by the school district in August 2013. Prior to that, she had worked as a waitress at California Pizza Kitchen, as her LinkedIn page indicates.

The educator has been on paid administrative leave since late October.
