Police Confirm Death Of Officer 2 Others In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a police officer and two others, by unknown gunmen who opened fire on motorists along Ikwerre Road, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmad Muhammad, who confirmed the killings in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said several other people sustained injuries after the incident.
Muhammad stated that the gunmen were on a mission to rob a new generation bank in the area, pointing out that no arrest has been made.
Meanwhile, residents and people doing business within the Old GRA, Port Harcourt have been assured of their protection and safety this the Christmas and New Year seasons.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Old GRA Police Station, Evelyn Osilonya gave the assurance shortly after a town hall meeting with members of the Old GRA Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
 Osilonya stated that necessary steps have been taken in line with the directive of the State Police Commissioner Musa Kimo to ensure effective policing of the Old GRA Division within this season and beyond.
She enjoined members of the public to join the Police community Relations committee, PCRC to boost the capacity of the police in fighting crimes.
