Man jailed for 27 years after raping and stabbing teenage girl in Surrey park

SMJF20012017CosticaVoedesresizedA man who raped a teenage girl, dragging her out of a Pizza Hut store before plunging a knife into her stomach and leaving her for dead in a park, has been jailed for 27 years.

Judge Robert Fraser, during Costica Voedes' sentencing at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, passed the lengthy sentence, saying the rapist posed a significant risk of serious harm to the public.
Voedes, 33, of High Street in Epsom dragged the 17-year-old girl from Pizza Hut in Waterloo Road, Epsom, at around 10.30pm on June 17, having put a knife to her throat, before taking her to nearby Court Recreation Ground.
During his trial in December, the court was told Voedes raped the girl in the park, before plunging a knife into her stomach and "leaving her for dead
