A thug jailed for attacking a police office has escaped from prison - after being allowed out to go for a walk.
Michael Wilson fled HMP Hewell, near Redditch, Birmingham, at around 6am on18 December.The 38-year-old was serving an indeterminate sentence for threats to kill, robbery, assaulting a police officer and possessing a mobile phone in prison.
West Mercia Police said Wilson was allowed to leave the open prison at about 6am on 18 December – but did not return.
He has links with West Bromwich, Stafford and London, Birmingham Mail reported.
The public are urged not to approach him.
Wilson is black, 5ft 10ins with close cropped hair and a full beard.
He has tattoos on both arms and a gold, capped tooth.
