Man jailed for biting policeman

Nottingham Magistrates' CourtA man was jailed after biting a policeman when he was drunk and only releasing his grip when punched five times in the head.
Martin Calvert's attack left the officer with months of worries about possible infection because his teeth broke the skin, a court heard.
As he was sent to prison for 16 weeks, Calvert was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the officer following the incident on December 10. When questioned later, he said the attack was "bang out of order."
Deputy District Judge Derek French told him: "This was a significant injury, a sustained assault on the officer. It takes place while under the influence of alcohol."
Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, said police had been called out to deal with "a domestic incident." Calvert was "well in drink" and they decided to remove him from the area to prevent trouble but he began "shouting and swearing."
