Killed: 2 Robbery Suspects Shot Dead By Police In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday shot dead two armed robbery suspects during a shootout with men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command.
According to the police public relations officer, PPRO, ASP George Okafor, said the unidentified robbers stormed the Rice Mill junction along old Ogoja road, Abakaliki, and the Mechanic Village and dispossessed a couple of N250,000 realised after selling their rice.
According to him, the robbers also went into the mechanic village and attacked a scrap dealer. “They were later confronted by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, who arrived at the scene following a distress call.
The PPRO further stated that “when we received a distress call that some armed robbers were operating within the Rice Mill axis of the old Enugu-Ogoja Express road, and our men were immediately mobilized to the area”.
“On sighting our men, the hoodlums opened fire on them and they responded immediately. The robbers were later overpowered and were gunned down by our men.’’
He disclosed that some amounts of money were recovered by the police from the hoodlums after the gun battle.
“Apart from the money recovered from them, a pistol which the hoodlums used in their operation was also recovered from them,” he said.
ASP Okafor warned criminals to leave the state or be ready to meet their waterloo and appealed to the members of the public to continue to volunteer useful information on the activities of criminals within and around their areas to the police
