A 38-year-old pharmacist, Uke Fredrick, of Aso Pada, Mararaba was on
Tuesday arraigned in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, for
allegedly assaulting his customer.
The accused is facing a four-count-charge of theft, assault, mischief and intimidation.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji told the court that one Samuel Godwin
of Aso B, Mararaba, reported the matter at the Aso Pada Police Station
on Dec. 12.
According to Adaji, on Dec. 4, the complainant who is a
customer to the accused went to his store ‘De-claim Pharmacy Store’
located at Mararaba and bought wholesale drugs valued at N51, 000.
He said Godwin deposited N31, 000 and promised to pay the balance before Dec. 10, but could not.
“The
accused went to the complainant’s shop threatened to deal with him and
then pushed him down, which resulted in him sustaining serious injuries
on his hand.
“When the complainant went out to get the money for
him, the accused in his absence removed some drugs, opened his locker
and removed some money,’’ he said.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened Sections 288, 265, 327 and 397 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The
Presiding Judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of
N100, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till 3,
for further hearing.(NAN)
